The Liberty Hotels Lykia is a beach front hotel in the Oludeniz area of Dalaman. With a huge array of swimming pools, bars and restaurants, and promising a perfect mixture of relaxation and activities, this popular hotel should be a well earned break. However this is not always the case, with unacceptable reports of holiday illness coming from visitors to the hotel.

Many visitors to the Gardenia Plaza Resort experience satisfactory levels of safety and hygiene. Poor housekeeping and maintenance, along with the smell of sewage and the presence of cockroaches have all been observed by holidaymakers visiting the Gardenia Plaza Resort.
Symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea and high temperatures have been common and are usually related to food poisoning or coming into contact with unclean water. This had led to many all-inclusive holidays being ruined and many holidaymakers left out of pocket.
Whilst staying in the Gardenia Plaza Resort it is important to follow these guidelines to reduce the risk of food poisoning and other holiday illnesses:
- Avoid foods not cooked thoroughly and/or re-heated incorrectly.
- Avoid foods not prepared hygienically.
- Avoid food not stored at the correct temperature
- Frequently use an alcohol-based hand gel.
- Avoid salads and any uncooked fruits and vegetables (these may have been handled unhygienically)
- Avoid swimming in water or pools that appear dirty and untreated.
In the event that you do get ill Sickholiday advise that you seek medical attention whilst on holiday as this will greatly increase your chances of making an eligible claim upon your return.

Mrs N travelled to the Liberty Hotels Lykia in Oludeniz, Turkey in August 2014. Mrs N travelled with her husband and two children, one of which was due to celebrate their birthday whilst on holiday. Mrs N first started with sickness after just 2 days of the holiday, this was then followed by severe diarrhoea and stomach cramps. The other members of the family shortly followed with the symptoms.

Mrs N was forced to visit the hotel doctor to receive treatment and was supplied with antibiotics. To add to the family’s woes they had a party booked to celebrate one of the children’s birthdays, however this had to be cancelled as the whole family were ill by this point. The family also booked a boat and fishing trip but had to cancel. On return to the UK Mrs N visited the GP where a stool sample was taken.

We are a family of 6 who all got either sickness or diarrhoea constantly for 2 weeks. Good luck if you come here. Definitely NOT worth the money as we found out!!!
