Tangier is one of Morocco’s liveliest cities. The area is popular among couples, families and visitors looking for a blend of cultural sightseeing and relaxing in the sun. With a long stretch of coastline and a variety of hotels Tangier attracts many holiday makers each year, looking for a well earned break.
Whilst many hotels in the region feature excellent standards of safety and hygiene, there is an unfortunate few that are not adequately maintained and have therefore been the subject of holiday illness claims.
Sickholiday.com have dealt with many cases of holiday illness in Tangier including Salmonella and other bacterial infections. With reported symptoms including diarrhoea and vomiting, some visitors have reported low standards of hygiene, dirty swimming pools and under cooked food.
Although all holiday makers visiting Tangier are advised to drink only bottled water, poorly maintained swimming pools can also lead to serious stomach illness such as Gastroenteritis as a result of contracting Cryptosporidium.
Avoid foods not cooked thoroughly and/or re-heated incorrectly. Suffering from illness on an all-inclusive holiday to Tangier will obviously affect your health but can also leave holidaymakers out of pocket from costly medical treatment.
