The Siva Sharm Resort & Spa is located in Sharks Bay, north of Sharm El Sheikh.  It is a popular destination due to its coral reefs and picturesque views of the nearby Sinai Mountains. The hotel itself features many amenities and dining options that should provide holiday makers with the well earned break that they paid for.  This is not always the case however, as many visitors have reported unacceptable and avoidable holiday illness. have dealt with 53 cases of reported food poisoning at the Siva Sharm Resort & Spa.

Visitors to the hotel have reported dirty swimming pools and poor food hygiene resulting in symptoms such as stomach cramps, diarrhoea and vomiting. Cases of Salmonella have been reported to, this is a very serious form of food poisoning that will not only affect your health, but can also leave holidaymakers out of pocket due to expensive medical bills.

Whilst staying in the Siva Sharm Resort & Spa it is important to follow these guidelines to reduce the risk of food poisoning and other holiday illnesses:

  • Avoid foods not cooked thoroughly and/or re-heated incorrectly.
  • Avoid foods not prepared hygienically.
  • Avoid food not stored at the correct temperature
  • Frequently use an alcohol-based hand gel.
  • Avoid salads and any uncooked fruits and vegetables (these may have been handled unhygienically)
  • Avoid swimming in water or pools that appear dirty and untreated.

In the event that you do get ill Sickholiday advise that you seek medical attention whilst on holiday as this will greatly increase your chances of making an eligible claim upon your return.

Miss. W contracted salmonella after a seven day holiday to the Siva Sharm Resort & Spa. Salmonella is usually causes by undercooked food. Miss W describes her stomach cramps as stabbing pains in the stomach. Miss W fell ill towards the end of the holiday so she waited to seek medical advice from her General Practice when she came home. Miss. W reported numerous issues with the hotels standards of hygiene.

Such as lukewarm food, food being left out for long periods of time, dirty plates, dirty crockery and flies around the food area. As Miss. W was staying all-inclusive and only ate inside the hotel.

The food itself was handled in a way that does not conform to basic food hygiene standards; it was often under cooked and left out for hours at a time in the blistering heat. To make matters worse, from the third day of my holiday my husband and I both suffered from severe diarrhoea as a result of the food. As a result of this, we couldn’t attend any of the excursions we had planned.
