SUMMER HOLIDAY RUINED BY

2 WEEK ILLNESS AT THE

MEXICANA SHARM RESORT

“Food left exposed for extended periods.”

Mrs W was looking forward to relaxing on a summer holiday with a friend. However, their stay at the Mexicana Sharm Resort was least enjoyable. Four days into the holiday, Mrs W and her friend developed severe diarrhoea and debilitating stomach cramps, which left her bedridden. The illness still affected Mrs Wood for 2 weeks afterwards, which resulted in a prescription for antibiotics given by her GP on return to the UK. There was a poor choice of buffet food, which was often left exposed for extended periods. Further, the drinks appeared to be diluted or watered down with untreated water.

ENTIRE FAMILY SUFFERED

ILLNESS AFTER STAY AT THE

MEXICANA SHARM RESORT

“She was diagnosed with Gastroenteritis on return to the UK.”

[ezcol_1third]1157721758[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_1third]3 year old Miss K stayed at the Mexicana Sharm Resort with her family; just two days later, all members of the family were stricken with illness. Miss K experienced diarrhoea, stomach cramps, vomiting and a raised temperature, which caused her to feel fatigued and unable to leave her bed. She received tablets and rehydration sachets from a pharmacist, and was diagnosed with Gastroenteritis on return to the UK.  The family realised that sewage water was being sprayed into the pool in which Miss K  had been swimming, and faeces in the toilets had not been cleaned in over one week. [/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_1third_end] As well as the gastric illness, Lauren also developed an ear infection and severe bed bug bites. Nearly all of the meals served in the hotel were lukewarm or cold, which made the food inedible. The hotel room was very dirty, with a thick scum around the shower, dirty floors, and a mouldy fridge. Overall, this experience was very distressing for such a small, innocent child.[/ezcol_1third_end]
