Located directly on the sands of Shark Bay in the Sharm el Sheikh region, the AA Grand Oasis features views of the Red Sea, Sinai Desert and distant mountains.  Promising a luxury all-inclusive holiday experience the hotel offers everything from relaxing massages to beach games and water sports.  A large variety of buffet dining options are available offering holidaymakers a huge choice of restaurants.  Unfortunately many holidaymakers do not get to fully enjoy their time at the AA Grand Oasis due to suffering from avoidable holiday illness.

Sickholiday.com have dealt with 8 cases of reported food poisoning at the AA Grand Oasis Hotel.

Symptoms including stomach cramps, diarrhoea and vomiting have been reported.  Norovirus and Giardia have been confirmed, with some cases severe enough to require visitors to be admitted to hospital.  These illnesses are usually caused from food poisoning or coming into contact with unclean water, leading to many all-inclusive holidays being ruined and many holidaymakers left out of pocket.

Whilst staying in the AA Grand Oasis Hotel it is important to follow these guidelines to reduce the risk of food poisoning and other holiday illnesses:

  • Avoid foods not cooked thoroughly and/or re-heated incorrectly.
  • Avoid foods not prepared hygienically.
  • Avoid food not stored at the correct temperature.
  • Frequently use an alcohol-based hand gel.
  • Avoid salads and any uncooked fruits and vegetables (these may have been handled unhygienically)
  • Avoid swimming in water or pools that appear dirty and untreated.

Sickholiday.com helped Mrs M claim the compensation she deserved after she was hospitalised for 5 days on her return from the Grand Oasis Hotel.  She was reportedly diagnosed with the parasite Giardia.  Due to this infection Mrs M suffered with severe stomach cramps, chronic diarrhoea and vomiting.  She became dangerously de-hydrated and as a result of this was admitted to hospital. [/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_1third_end]Mrs M did not drink the local tap water but did have ice in her drinks.  Many hotels make their ice with tap water rather than filtered water in an attempt to save money.  This is very likely to be the cause of Mrs Ms illness.  She also mentioned in a report taken at the time that the drinks tasted watered down.[/ezcol_1third_end]
